Situated in the village of Burghwallis, St Anne's is ideally located in a rural setting surrounded by its own landscaped gardens.  It overlooks open countryside just 7 miles north of Doncaster off the A1.

Burghwallis Hall is a Grade 2 listed building dating back to pre-Reformation times, which has been beautifully converted into a residential care home. It has accommodated elderly people for the past 50 years.

Aims and objectives

St Anne's aims to recognise the dignity and value of every person by:- 

  • providing a friendly personal service which respects the needs of the individualgarden
  • involving residents and families in decision-making 
  • satisfying our residents / relatives' wishes for an excellent quality service by constantly striving to improve standards
  • assisting staff to achieve their full potential by offering training, education and support.

Philosophy of Care

The committee responsible for the Home is appointed by the Bishop of Hallam and both they and the staff are committed to the following Philosophy of Care:

  • residents come first
  • staff understand and respond to the many and varied needs of residents, including their spiritual needs 
  • each resident's individuality is respected
  • staff commit themselves to creating an atmosphere in which elderly people find the assistance they need in order to maximise their independence
  • family and friend are welcome to visit the Home whenever they choose. Conversely, residents are free to visit and/or stay with family or friends and every assistance is offered to enable this.

The special atmosphere at Burghwallis Hall reflects the commitment to the care of residents.

Accommodation

loungeInside: The Home has provision for 26 residents who all enjoy the privacy of their own bed/sitting room. The rooms are tastefully decorated to a high standard and centrally heated. Whilst the rooms are fully furnished, residents are free to add their own personal items if they wish. A public telephone is provided, but it is also possible for residents to have a private one installed in their own room.

Within the Home there are several communal areas such as the lounge, dining room and a sun lounge. These can be enjoyed at any time by the residents and their guests. As the accommodation is on 2 floors, a lift is available to enable residents to access all parts of the Home, including the Chapel.

Outside:  Residents are able to enjoy the seasonal beauty of the gardens as all rooms overlook them. These can be enjoyed by a stroll along a series of flat, even pathways.

Meals:  A Choice of menu is available at all times, The main meal, which is usually served atdining room mid-day is prepared based upon a healthy eating plan and using fresh produce as much as possible. Breakfast, high tea, morning and afternoon tea and biscuits, plus evening drinks (including an alcoholic night cap if desired) are also provided. The cook is also happy to prepare any special diet requirements or requests for favourite food.

Visitors

St Anne's becomes resident's OWN HOME and therefore their visitors are welcome at any time and may be entertained in any part of the home. The sun-lounge has its own tea and coffee making facilities. It is also possible for you to book the use of the "Red Room" for a special occasion. During the year there may be social gatherings or event planned to which your family and friends will be most welcome.

Personal Services

The local GP makes frequent visits as does the chiropodist. Staff are on hand to make other appointments for you, as necessary, in respect of healthcare. The mobile library visits fortnightly and daily newspapers or periodicals are available for residents. A local hair stylist visits the Home on a regular basis and appointments can be made through a member of staff.bedroom

Activities

Residents are encouraged to join in the regular indoor activities which are arranged by staff as well as various outings and social gatherings and residents are encouraged to join in. Staff are also keen to assist residents to pursue any personal interest or hobby they may enjoy.

General

chapelSt Anne's is  Rest Home offering permanent residency. However, we are also able to offer short stays or respite care if a bed is available.

Whilst the above gives brief details of life at the Home, if you would like to visit or obtain further information regarding charges, or on obtaining Local Authority funding, please contact the Care Manager.

Permanent residency is offered following a trial period. At that time, private residents are given a Contract. For sponsored residents, the Home forms a Contract with the relevant Local Authority.

UniquenessChapel

As part of the unique ethos of the Home, St Anne's has a resident Chaplain and also its own Mass is said daily and where the Blessed Sacrament is present.
